You can draw your lightsabers if you want to, but
Dirk Brossé will wield his baton. Renowned Oscar-winning film composer John Williams, who wrote music for most of Steven Spielberg's films, picked the Flemish musician to join him as a conductor on his world tour to perform the music of the
Star Wars movies.
Star Wars: A Musical Journey has its
world première in London on April 10 in the Millenium Dome. The concert will be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and sung by the London Voices. The show features an extensive selection of Williams' unforgettable and majorly hummable scores from all six
Star Wars movies and molds those into a two-hour musical event that features scenes from the movies and live narration. This live multi-media performance also includes an exhibition of memorabilia from all films, including original models, props, costumes and production artwork.
Star Wars: A Musical Journey is produced by Another Planet Touring, in association with Lucasfilm Ltd.
John Williams already worked with Dirk Brossé in the past and is said to be genuinely impressed when auditions took place for this new project. Brossé (b. 1960-) has acquired international renown as a conductor and composer. As a composer, too, he is very versatile: he writes film music, ‘ethno-classical symphonies’ and concert music for various types of ensemble. According to an article in the yearbook
The Low Countries he is an all-round musician who aspires to universality. May the Force be with him.
