Miffy, the world famous rabbit developed by designer, artist and writer Dick Bruna (1927) in the 1960s, has been loaned to the Rijksmuseum on a long-term lease along with another 120 works or more.

There are book covers (the well-known Black bear pocket book covers from the 1960s and 1970s), drawings, picture books, advertising campaigns and Miffy.) Dick Bruna’s work can be seen at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam till 29 August 2011. The Rijksmsueum wants to hang Bruna’s work with other Dutch icons such as Rietveld and Mondriaan for the reopening in 2013.

Meanwhile, too, it seems that the first film about Miffy is in the pipeline. Warner Bros Nederland hopes to release the film in January 2013.

The Miffy books have been translated in 52 countries. Bruna constantly strives for simplification in his work and remains a perfectionist.
